First Aid

There are many aspects of boating that can result in injury, from head injuries from a swinging boom to a scald from a galley spill during rough weather. Situations are often complicated by restricted/confined spaces on-board vessels.

The RYA First Aid Course covers first aid subjects from a boating perspective and is  aimed at anyone who goes afloat, whether on inland waters, rivers, estuaries or on cross channel passages.

The course fulfils requirements for:

  • Professional skippers of small craft working within 60 miles of a safe haven, including MCA Boatmasters;
  • the Senior First Aid certificate needed by offshore racers subject to ISAF’s regulations on first aid training (OSR 4.08.4).
